Why I Love Christmas

Ok, so for a while now I’ve been wanting to start a blog but didn’t know what to make it about. I’m an Aussie, a mum of two boys (2 & 9mths). I love my family, cooking, sewing, scrapbooking, sport, the beach, the snow, and CHRISTMAS!! Everyone in my family loves Christmas, it is a very big deal around here!

I am one of five, and the only girl. My mum is also one of five so I have heaps and heaps of cousins and we were all brought up very close. Family is so important to us. Growing up, each year was at a different Aunty or Uncles house and it was huge. My favorite of all Christmases though were the ones at our house. We had a big house that was covered in lights and decorations, I’m talking inside and out. There was so much food that we had to hire a cool room, and being in Australia, it’s summer so the weather is always amazing. Christmas eve lots of the family would stay the night at our house. Each of the five bedrooms was packed, and my twin brother and I, and two cousins our age used to sleep in a tent out the back. My grandparents in a caravan up the drive, and often friends and neighbors would visit.

Christmas morning was full of excitement. With so many kids running around waiting to open presents, parents were dragged out of bed so we could all sit around the tree and watch each other open gifts. Then it was showtime. Breakfast on, showers, picking up wrapping paper, eagerly awaiting the rest of the family, and the amazing smell of the webbers being lit. We all helped prepare food and set the table. We all sat together at a huge table and ate lunch. It’s the best day of the year! Now I have two little boys of my own and I want Christmas to be just as special for them as it was for me. I can’t wait to make decorations with them, take them shopping, and get them to help with the cooking.

So on this blog I’m going to share with you what we create, what inspires us, and how we did it. Enjoy, share the Christmas spirit, and follow along each step of the way so you don’t miss out on anything.
